Stomach scare , wrong time but God
It was meant to be a regular church service in the evening where I have consistently led the songs as a worship leader for some 15 odd years. Normally, we'll have a sound check with the band, backup singers and the sound man of course. We went through the songs as usual. By the penultimate one, I started to feel like em.. farting, and that felt a bit embarrasing. So I moved away a bit and then all of a sudden, it graduated to a strong desire to visit the toilet that I barely mumbled a few words of excuse and asked someone else to take over the last song. Then I realised it was a diarrhoea with a big 'D' and then later vommiting as well! And I really had to sing within 15 minutes. Started praying in the midst of terrible pains. While I was still in the bathroom, I heard my wife's voice calling to find out if I was there. I responded and then heard that quite a few people were looking for me.. The backup singers, the sound man who still needed to sound check a solo song I was meant to do, and the band leader who did not get my message! I tidied up and made my way to the stage and the others seeing that I wasn't looking great, gathered round and prayed for and with me. So, we started, the service. I begon with a prayer and the first song and towards the end of that song, had this desire again to visit the toilet and felt slighty faint. So, I handed over to someone else and made another visit. I could see a puzzled look on some in the congregation who were wandering what was going on, but the singers carried on,including my wife who was singing out but praying on the inside. Once done, I went and gave myself the famous ORS therapy, using salt and sugar from the church kitchen.(thanks mum) Now I felt much better and got back on stage and could join in the last song. Phew! The pastor was now on stage, smiled at me and laid his hands on me with a short prayer. I eventually did get to sing the solo song, sans soundcheck, and as God would have it,the most powerful rendition ever as far as I can remember. Glory to God. This evening goes definitely on the never to be forgotten ones.
